Ferring Named in Fortune’s 2023 Change the World List

Saint-Prex, Switzerland – 28 September, 2023 – Ferring Pharmaceuticals has been named in Fortune’s 2023 Change the World list which recognises companies that have had a positive social impact through activities that are part of their core business strategy. Ferring’s recognition on the list acknowledges the company’s #ProjectFamily Safe Birth Commitment, that aims to reduce maternal mortality in low and lower-middle income countries (L&LMICs).
Ferring’s #ProjectFamily Safe Birth Commitment is a global not-for-profit partnership with the vision that every woman, no matter where she lives, should have access to a safe birth, including quality care and necessary treatment during pregnancy and childbirth.
This commitment aims to help protect the lives of 20 million women and their families by 2030 by reducing preventable maternal deaths from postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) – the leading cause of maternal death globally.
“PPH remains the number 1 cause of maternal death around the world. Yet, most deaths are preventable. If we do not accelerate progress to reduce maternal deaths, the lives of 1 million women will be lost by 2030,” said Per Falk, President, Ferring Pharmaceuticals. “Through our #ProjectFamily Safe Birth Commitment, we are providing equitable access to Ferring’s innovation, a heat-stable formulation of carbetocin for the prevention of PPH, which was developed through a public-private partnership. We are working with partners, governments and stakeholders to make this essential medicine available long term at a not-for-profit, affordable price to public and not-for-profit health facilities to help address disparities in maternal health care in low and lower-middle-income countries, and protect the lives of women and, ultimately, their newborns.”
Fortune’s Change the World list honours companies that address society’s unmet needs, with Ferring ranking at number 18 (out of 40) with its #ProjectFamily #SafeBirthCommitment.
