Cases of bedwetting or Primary Nocturnal Enuresis (PNE) and nocturia due to excessive urine production can be treated successfully and safely with MINIRIN (desmopressin).

MINIRIN was developed by Ferring Pharmaceuticals. Its active ingredient is called desmopressin and is a peptide-based synthetic analogue of the human antidiuretic hormone, vasopressin. It mimics the action of vasopressin on the kidneys to increase the reabsorption of water thereby reducing the volume of urine produced.

Why use MINIRIN in bedwetting ?

  • MINIRIN is recommended by experts as first-line medication for bedwetting.
  • It is fast acting – urine production decreases within an average of 30 minutes after oral administration - and has a duration of action spanning the night.
  • Daily use brings regular dry nights in around 70 per cent of patients.
  • The quick effect helps children build self-esteem and confidence.
  • MINIRIN is now available in a novel child-friendly, fast melting formulation. MINIRIN MELT can be taken without water and is the most convenient dosage form for children below the age of twelve years.

Why use MINIRIN in nocturia?

  • When taken before bedtime, MINIRIN reduces the number of voids per night and thus increases the mean duration of undisturbed sleep by at least two hours.
  • More than 30 per cent of patients using MINIRIN experience an undisturbed first period sleep of over five hours.
  • By prolonging the first period of sleep, MINIRIN greatly enhances patients’ quality of life, helping them to wake in the morning feeling more rested and refreshed.
  • MINIRIN is available in three dosage forms: a nasal spray, tablets and the convenient formulation MINIRIN MELT.
