Syntese A/S is one of the world’s leading producers of Mesalazine / Mesalamine, which is used as an active pharmaceutical ingredient in the global pharmaceutical industry’s products to treat Inflammatory Bowel Diseases such as Colities Ulcerosa and Crohn’s disease.

Syntese A/S’ history starts in 1980 at Ferring Pharmaceuticals A/S. In 1992 a new factory located in Hvidovre, Denmark was built as a subdivision of Ferring Pharmaceutical A/S. The plant is dedicated to the manufacturing of Mesalamine API.

A new production line was established in 2003 in Copenhagen, which considerably increased its production capacity. In 2006, Ferring BV became the sole proprietor of Syntese A/S.

Syntese A/S is FDA approved and cGMP certified. The active substance is registered in more than 50 countries (e.g. US, Japan and Canada) and Syntese A/S has a certificate of suitability for the Mesalazine monograph of the European Pharmacopoeia.
